Bishop Shawn R. Mason II is a servant, thinker, and visionary leader. A Brooklyn native, he serves as the proud Senior Pastor of The Freedom Church, a thriving multi-generational ministry he launched in September 2017 to impact Brooklyn and beyond with excellence, integrity, and hope.
Bishop Mason is married to Lady Esther Riley-Mason and is the devoted father of four (Celeste, T.J. Kayla & David). Formed in the rich heritage of Black Pentecostalism, he was nurtured in the Historic St. Mark Holy Church under the late Bishop Nathaniel Townsley, Jr., where he was licensed to preach and later ordained to the presbytery. On June 24, 2023, he was duly consecrated to the sacred office of Bishop in the Lord’s Church.
Academically, Bishop Mason studied American History at the University at Albany, earned a Bachelor of Theology from Dominion Theological Seminary, and completed the Master of Divinity at North Carolina Theological Seminary in 2024.
A highly sought-after lecturer and episcopal protocol consultant, he is the visionary behind the Empowering Servants Symposium. Which is a transformative workshop series for emerging leaders and those serving in the ministry of helps. For more than 25 years, he has served in the adjutancy and for nearly two decades has functioned as Adjutant General for episcopal consecrations and ordinations across denominational lines.
Passionate about ecumenical collaboration, Bishop Mason currently serves as Bishop of Protocol for Covenant Keepers International Alliance under the leadership of Bishop Hezekiah Walker and as Adjutant Bishop for the Joint College of African American Pentecostal Bishops. His ministry continues to bridge traditions, empower servant leaders, and champion excellence in the Body of Christ.
